School effectiveness and inspections

The role of the Regional Leaders in Education

‘Watching over one another in love so that all children and adults in our family of schools may flourish’

At MAST we understand and acknowledge the amazing journey each school leader takes leading our Methodist schools. We recognise the joys each day can bring whilst also understanding the challenges and pressures being a Headteacher of a church school can also bring. Yet we all belong to the family of Methodist schools (MAST) and we want this network to be a source of support and encouragement within our schools.

MAST provides pastoral and educational support to all leaders in our schools through the work of our Regional Leaders in Education (RLEs).

Every school within MAST has a designated RLE whose core purpose is to walk alongside Headteachers and support them on their journey. As practising, experienced Headteachers all RLEs can relate to current issues school leaders face.

RLEs support and guide the improvement of our schools and pupil outcomes through providing both practical and pastoral support.  They also support and guide the development of a deep, underpinning Methodist ethos within our schools. This is through half termly contact with each school.

MAST very much see this as a two-way relationship generating collaboration and partnerships across a wider network of Methodist schools.

We aim to live out our vision of ‘watching over one another in love’ and enable all our schools to thrive.

All RLEs uphold our core values of: service, family, integrity, uniqueness, love, trust, brave.

Inspections

Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills. They inspect services providing education and skills for learners of all ages.

Schools are inspected and judged on five areas: Overall effectiveness; Quality of education; Behaviour and attitudes; Personal development; and Leadership and management. If the school offers early years provision and sixth-form provision, inspectors will also make judgements on these areas.
